WE’re GOING TO SCOTLAND, WITCHES
If We Were Really Witches is ecstatic to announce that we have been accepted into the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival! We could not be more excited to continue the momentum of the past year, which took us to Fringe festivals in New York and beyond, and led us to a series of performances at The Tank earlier this year.
The hard part is done.
Now the harder part starts: fundraising.
In order to make the trip across the pond, we are humbly asking for donations. All money raised through performances, fundraisers, and merchandise will go towards to the cost of our month-long residency at THE THEATRE this August. Direct contributions can be made at our fundraiser page through Fractured Atlas, which includes a breakdown of our budget and anticipated costs.
We also acknowledge times are hard. We’re artists. Thankfully, there are many ways to support the show. Following along on social media, and sharing our stuff goes a long way. And of course, we love when people come to see us. Packing houses here helps us draw crowds there.
If you’re interested in becoming involved and supporting our journey in a more hands-on way, would like to host a fundraiser event, or connect us with potential financing, please do not hesitate to contact us. This show has been an all hands on deck effort from the beginning, and we are eternally grateful for every one that has reached out.
*If the cost of a performance is prohibitive, we offer comps and sliding scale tickets for many of our shows.
What is edinburgh Fringe?
Edinburgh Fringe is the largest performing arts festival in the world. In 2025, it featured over 3,800 different acts with performers from 68 different countries. It’s launched the careers of legends like Alan Rickman and NAME, turned a one-woman-show into an Emmy-Award-winning television series, and given off-off-off Broadway shows a way to get to the main drag.
It’s a place for artists to connect with other industry professionals and build community. People come from across the globe to be a part of the future of independent art—and that includes New York producers looking for something to take home.
As the city transforms, every open space, coffee shop, and street corner becomes a venue. There is, quite literally, an act around every corner. That’s why Witches is incredibly grateful to have secured one of the Festival’s coveted theatre deals.
For three weeks in August, the city of Edinburgh welcomes an explosion of creative energy from around the globe. Artists and performers take to hundreds of stages all over the city, presenting shows for every taste. Venues can be anywhere, from existing theatres and concert halls to repurposed spaces like bars, parks, buses and shipping containers. The Fringe street events bring colour, excitement and vibrancy to outdoor areas, free of charge.
From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival spans every genre of live performance, including theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events.

Good theatre isn’t cheap! Especially when you have to transport, house, and pay an entire team to perform in a foreign country—even when that team is as small and mighty as ours. Just the venue fees alone are over $6,500 for our month long run. You can get a full breakdown of our costs and budget at our donation page.

We’ll be bringing a crew of six to Edinburgh. This includes our four principal actors, Director, and Assistant Director, who also acts as an understudy.

Great question. Contrary to what many our beloved friends and family have implied, this is sadly not a month-long European vacation. We’ll be in the “Village” for the entirety of the stay, and when we’re not on stage, we’ll be actively flyering and promoting the show along the Royal Mile.
